What are Wisdom Teeth?
Also known as the third molars, wisdom teeth are the last teeth in the mouth. Generally there are four wisdom teeth – one at each end of each arch. Patients will often notice their wisdom teeth around their late teens to early twenties as they begin to erupt.
When the jawbone doesn’t have enough room for the third molars, the teeth can develop on an angle. In cases such as these, the wisdom teeth can’t erupt properly and pushes the adjacent teeth and can even lead to food impaction in the area which can lead to bad breath.
To prevent further serious problems, surgery is done to remove your wisdom teeth before they harm you and the rest of your teeth.
*Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risk. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
